Quicksilver 8M6001250 Ignition Points for MerCruiser Engines with Mallory Conventional Ignition Systems

if you order the sierra 18-5283 tune up kit…and compare the original points in that kit with these aftermarket points you will notice that that hard redish thing that presses up against the distributor cam lobe sits about 1/8 inch higher or so than the one in the kit, i have not installed one yet but i am sure the distributor cam lobe will mate well enough so there is no problem of premature wear or lack of proper contact. if you use a magnifying glass you will notice that the aftermarket points have one slightly large point and on the moving side of the point arm, the point is smaller; so there is some small overhang there, compared to the original points that are both exactly the same size…i doubt this will affect wear or performance though. the mounting hole on the spring end of the point set also appears bigger than the original…but i used a same size small bolt pushed into both the original and then this aftermarket one..and the bolt fits snugly in both…with no discernable difference in wiggle room…so appearances can be deceiving…other than these three things this aftermarket made in mexico points are exactly the same
