I have a good corded rotary hammer drill, but was working on an old red brick wall nowhere near an outlet, and too far (a couple hundred feet) for an extension cord. I don’t have a portable generator, and have little need for one, so I had to get a cordless one for this one job.I had eight holes to drill in the brick, all 1 inch in diameter. This drill managed to do it in one charge, but just barely. It wore the battery down to one bar and barely finished the last hole. I’ll admit that hundred year old, southern sun baked, red bricks can be very tough to drill through, but this managed to do it.It’s noticeably weaker than my corded Makita, but I just didn’t need it after this project. Thats why I went with this no name for cheap, as I already have 18v makita batteries that work with it.The only real complaint I have is the smell. It really smells like heavily burnt plastic. That’s as soon as you unbox it. Something really doesn’t seem right because of the smell, but it did it’s job without fail. So I have to give it five stars. On a side note, I didn’t use the included bits. I used a carbide and diamond masonry hole saw. So I can’t comment on the included bits quality.Oh, and there is no shock absorption in the handle (wouldn’t expect it at this price), and you can REALLY feel it. Gets a bit painful after 20 minutes.
