We realized we need more fixtures for our wall and ordered this package of 4 to add to ones we already had.We have a wood textured, poured concrete foundation planter at the front of our house. It runs from each corner to decks at the middle of the house. We are going to put a slate top on it this coming spring (this is being written during the winter of 2024-2025) We had tossed around many different ideas. Then these came along. The selling point for me was the way they attached to the wall. In our case, the cap is a slab of slate that will be attached with landscape adhesive. The cap is at the right height and has enough width to serve as a seat. We needed something that could be concealed beneath the overhang created by the slate without being blocked by a person seated, or even worse, cause a person harm by contact with the light. These are perfect for the job.Unfortunately, even though they are rated at 3.0 watts, these lights are noticeably lower in light output to other LED lighting at the front of our house, including another brand with this design that is rated at 2.5 watts per fixture. I had anticipated adding something to dim the output to match the output of other lights. I can’t dim all the other lights to match the output of just 4 lights. The color is a good match, a warm sitting room color. I did not take an exact color temperature reading because they are close enough to other “warm” lights. The lights are very well made. All the metal is powder coated with a ‘roughish’ texture. There is some adjustment to the angle the light shines. The mount itself is permanent but the light bar is held in place by Phillips screws. You should leave some extra wire so that you can pull a defective light bar out and splice a new one in.Each fixture has 3 feet of very rugged wire. This appears to be the same as high-end ground burial cable, not the everyday zip cord. There are no connectors, meaning everything must be hand spliced. These lights draw about 3 watts each. To power a sting of all 4, you need 12 watts, so plan on a power supply of at least 15 watts. Why? Because power supplies are rated in peak output. This is so they can run equipment that has a higher initial power draw such as a motor or an incandescent light. The best providers of power supplies will have in their notes that you should not run a continuous load of over 80% of its rating. Think of yourself. Maybe you can run at a pretty high speed, but you don’t want to try to run all day. Be aware that some sellers over-inflate their output ratings. If you use a power supply that does not have enough output, at the least, the lights will be dimmer. At the worst, the power supply can overheat. Then the supply may start smelling, or get hot to the touch, or melt, or even catch fire and can destroy the item being powered by it. Don’t shop just by price but by their buyers’ ratings and reviews.I gave these fixtures a 4 star rating. It is a great design and is made to fit between layers masonry. Unfortunately, the lower light output means that I will have to find a place to use them. They do not match the two dozen fixtures that I already have.
