I definitely prefer these to disposable filters, but they seem to fall apart on me, especially if I put them through the dishwasher. I’ve bought 4 or 5 of them, replacing them as they break, and I’ll still buy them…just beware that they aren’t a “buy it for life” item.The little “handle” piece of metal is invariably the first to go. If this thing gets in your garbage disposal…well, it’s curved at a perfect angle to lock the disposal up until you can wrench the stupid thing out of there. This has happened twice to me, now I just remove the handle when I get them to avoid it. The handle falls out pretty easily, and twice it fell out without me noticing.The metal ring around the top will go if you put this in the dishwasher frequently. So I clean it by hand most of the time. Once that goes, the thing becomes a minor hazard as the top edge is pretty sharp without that ring.If you clean it by hand and make sure you know where the handle is before turning on the disposal, one of these should last at least a year through daily use. It’s absolutely worth the upgrade from paper.
